Up-and-coming musician, Oghenetega Erhavwiere, also known as Tbaddo, embarked on a remarkable journey, walking for 29 days from Delta State all the way to Lagos with the hope of meeting the famous singer and rapper, Olamide.
The 27-year-old Delta native, from Ughelli LGA, started his trek on January 12, 2024, and reached his destination on February 11, 2024. Tbaddo’s main goal in seeking out Olamide was to make a name for himself in the music industry. He believed that getting Olamide to feature on one of his songs would be a game-changer for his career.
Tbaddo shared, “People in Lagos don’t realize what they have. Olamide is incredibly influential, but it seems he mostly supports artists from his own background. Getting close to Olamide and earning his support could really launch my career. Just one feature from him, and I wouldn’t have to worry about promoting my music anymore.”
He also mentioned he’s working on a new song titled ‘GuoGuo’ and dreams of having Olamide contribute a verse to it. Tbaddo’s determination is fueled by his love for music and the belief that it’s his true calling in life.
Surviving on a shoestring budget, he managed the long trek with just 4500 Naira, ending the journey with only 700 Naira left. Now in Lagos, Tbaddo is facing health issues due to inadequate living conditions, as he knows no one in the city.
He holds onto the hope that Olamide will help him out, stating, “If Olamide doesn’t help, it will crush all my dreams. I’d rather face death than the mockery of the world. I believe Olamide won’t let me down, but if he does, we’ll have to leave it in God’s hands.”
Tbaddo also noted that his family didn’t support his trek, feeling overlooked because of his financial status. “My family didn’t take me seriously. They thought I was wasting my time. But I’ve always believed that God comes first in my life.”
Currently, Tbaddo is staying at Aboki estate in Oniru Lekki, Lagos, holding onto the hope that his efforts will pay off and he’ll get the breakthrough he seeks with Olamide’s help.
