Nollywood actress Toyin Adegbola, known as Toyin Tomato, has advised women to avoid divorce, stating that equality does not exist in marriage. During an Instagram live session on Monday, she encouraged women to stay with their unfaithful husbands while taking precautions against sexually transmitted diseases.
She emphasized that leaving a troubled marriage might lead to regret, especially when children have significant events in the future. “No matter how difficult your husband is, don’t consider leaving him. Later, you might have to ask for reconciliation during important family events. After enduring in your marriage, it’s unlikely you’ll find another man if you leave. Stay and ask him to protect himself.”
Toyin Tomato shared an example of a friend who bought condoms for her husband when he visited Nigeria, highlighting that men will still engage with other women and pointing out that women do not have equal rights in marriage. “We don’t have equal rights, and I stand by that.”
She added, “Men, please see us as your responsibility, your first child. We women have also married you and see you as our first child because, no matter how smart men are, they can sometimes be foolish. What we want you to understand is all you’ll see,” she concluded.
