Mark Zuckerberg turns 40 today and has had a significant past decade. His wealth has increased to $169 billion, mostly because he owns 13% of Meta. His way of living has changed too; he now owns properties worth $200 million and a very large yacht.

During his 30s, Zuckerberg had children, completed a degree at Harvard, and earned a blue belt in jiu-jitsu. He also added more than $140 billion to his wealth.

Zuckerberg’s net worth now places him as the fourth richest person globally, as reported by Bloomberg. Back in 2014, he was worth $26.1 billion.

He mainly holds his fortune through a 13% share in Meta, the parent company of Facebook. Meta’s stock has increased by over 700% in the last decade, transforming from a newly public company to the world’s seventh-largest, dominating large parts of social media and advertising. Facebook’s daily users have grown from 890 million to 2.11 billion from the end of 2014 to the end of 2023.

Zuckerberg’s extravagant lifestyle includes a $200 million worth of real estate and a very expensive yacht. He and his wife have spent millions on properties in Palo Alto and Lake Tahoe. In Hawaii, he’s bought 1,200 acres, including land for a potential $100 million survival bunker.

Zuckerberg also enjoys expensive water toys like a $12,000 electric surfboard and a $300 million yacht, which costs a lot to maintain. However, he also plans to give away 99% of his Facebook shares during his lifetime through a charity aimed at solving health and education issues.

It’s unclear how he’ll celebrate his 40th birthday, but it seems he might be interested in a new chain.
