Yesterday, Saudi Arabia gave 50 tonnes of high-quality dates to Nigeria to strengthen their relationship. The Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria, Faisal Ebraheem Alghamdi, handed over the dates at a ceremony in the Saudi Embassy in Abuja.
He mentioned that the Saudi government has been helping Nigeria in various areas through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief). He highlighted a recent effort in March 2024, the “Et’am 3 Initiative,” where they distributed 5,606 food packages worth $400,000 across several Nigerian regions including Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, Borno, and Abuja.
The embassy also announced plans for a medical diagnostic campaign in Abuja, Kano, and Lagos later in 2024. This is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to help those in need internationally.
Additionally, the embassy stated that Saudi Arabia has completed 98 projects in Nigeria, worth over $47 million, in areas like food security, health, sanitation, and education.
At the ceremony, Murtala Jimoh, from the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, thanked Saudi Arabia. He expressed Nigeria’s appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support and kindness.
