Duke Alamboye, the newly appointed national president of the Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO), has vowed to lead efforts to enable Nigeria’s young people to positively impact the nation’s development. He announced this commitment at a national stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos recently.
Highlighting the historical significance of the NYO, Alamboye remarked, “Our organisation is one of the oldest youth organisations in Nigeria. In my tenure, we have the responsibility to restructure the state organ. We will source for capable youths who can handle state executives and form the national structure. Most importantly, to regain the confidence and peace of our organisation.”
Alamboye also expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu‘s reformative goals, stating that the NYO would collaborate with the Ministry of Youths and other key governmental bodies to ensure that Nigerian youths play a role in governance, thereby unleashing their potential to enhance the nation’s economic growth.
“We will begin to support the good policies of the government and go against ones that are not in conformity with the development of our country,” he added, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to national development and governance.
Furthermore, Alamboye detailed the NYO’s plan to confront current security challenges in Nigeria by initiating a nationwide campaign to educate young people on issues of security and development.
The national secretary of the NYO’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Dr. Olusegun Adeleye, also spoke about the organization’s readiness to launch social empowerment programs for Nigerian youths. “The organisation will reemphasis the dignity of labour and contribute to the security of the country like we did in the 80s when we were in the service of administration of the organisation,” he said.
Dr. Adeleye elaborated on the planned initiatives, “We have had meetings and have agreed that we will be organising a social empowerment programme. This administration will focus on renewed energy by reassuring the youths tremendously by creating an enabling environment for empowerment programmes.”
He highlighted the critical role of the youth in maintaining national peace and harmony, stating, “In terms of security, the youths will live up to their expectations in maintaining peace and harmony within other youths and the entire country.”
