The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the process for applying to become the head coach of the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national soccer team. “The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been in search of a new head coach since February 29, 2024, following the end of Jose Peseiro’s contract,” the NFF stated.

Jose Peseiro, who took on the coaching role in 2022, “led the team to a second-place finish at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast on February 11, 2024.” Despite attempts to renew his contract, “Peseiro did not accept the NFF’s offer due to his salary expectations,” revealing a break in negotiations.

There were initially rumors that “Austin Eguaveon, a former head coach, was appointed as the interim coach,” but the NFF clarified, “these reports are not accurate, leaving the position still open.”

The NFF has officially opened the application process, stating on its website that it is seeking new coaches for “the Super Eagles and the Golden Eaglets.” The announcement emphasized that candidates “must have proven experience at the elite level of football.”

Applicants interested in these positions “are expected to forward their applications to jobs@thenff.com or through the NFF’s job portal at https//thenff.com/jobs/head-coach-of-the-senior-men’s-national-team-super-eagle/.”

The deadline for submitting applications is “on or before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024,” as per the NFF’s announcement.
