The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly rebuked the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Nigerian government for criticizing PDP governors who have publicly decried the failures of President Bola Tinubu and the APC’s governance.

“The President and his party have plunged Nigerians into excruciating suffering,” the PDP stated, attributing the “current biting economic hardship and surging wave of insecurity across the country” to the administration’s ineffectiveness and lack of leadership ability.

The party, through a statement from its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, accused the APC of endorsing an incompetent leader. “By seeking to allocate President Tinubu’s statutory duties to State Governors, the APC has unambiguously admitted that it foisted on Nigerians an incompetent President,” the PDP said, condemning the administration for policies that have led to “extreme hunger, hopelessness, and desperation.”

The statement further criticized President Tinubu for failing to manage the country’s security and economic policies effectively, including his role as Minister of Petroleum Affairs. “President Tinubu…cannot transfer his incompetence and failure to other Tiers of Government which have no control over national security, fiscal and monetary policies,” the PDP articulated, highlighting the administration’s inability to curb corruption and financial mismanagement.

The PDP slammed the APC for trying to divert public attention from its failures. “It is an assault on the sensibility of Nigerians that instead of charging the government it formed to live up to its billings, the APC is seeking a sordid and depraved approach to divert public attention from its failures,” the statement read.

Addressing the APC’s silence on corruption, the PDP insinuated that the party’s leaders are involved in scams and fraudulent deals, leading to widespread hardship. “The complicity of the APC leaders apparently informs why they have remained silent in the face of the incompetence, monumental treasury-looting, and corruption in the Tinubu administration,” the party declared.

Urging President Tinubu and the APC to confront their “self-inflicted woes,” the PDP praised its governors for their development efforts. “It is evident today across Nigeria that it is only PDP governors and other PDP elected public officials that are commissioning legacy and life-enriching projects,” the statement highlighted.

Finally, the PDP called on Nigerians to continue holding the APC and President Tinubu accountable for their suffering, warning that it will not hesitate to expose APC leaders allegedly involved in plundering the nation’s treasury. “The PDP will name APC leaders allegedly involved in the continuing treasury-plundering as the APC must not be allowed to ‘grab, snatch and run’ with our national patrimony at the expense of millions of our citizens,” the statement concluded.
