Bolaji Agbede

Access Holdings Plc has announced the appointment of Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer.

Following the tragic loss of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, in a helicopter crash that also claimed the lives of his wife and son on February 9, 2024, the company has revealed the designation of Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Interim Group Chief Executive Officer. This announcement was made in a statement issued by the Board of Directors on February 12, 2024, and is pending approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“In light of the recent sorrowful event that led to the passing of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, our previous Group Chief Executive Officer, on February 9, 2024, Access Holdings Plc (the ‘Company’) is obliged to announce the provisional appointment of Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer,” the company’s statement conveyed.

Ms. Agbede, who has been with Access Bank since 2003, starting as an Assistant General Manager, boasts an extensive career spanning nearly three decades in banking and business consultancy services. Her tenure at the bank has seen her in various capacities, most notably as Head of Group Human Resources from 2010 to 2022, and subsequently as the founding Executive Director of Business Support in 2022 until this recent appointment.

Ms. Agbede’s academic background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos and a Masters of Business Administration from Cranfield University, UK, in 2002. She is also a distinguished member of the Chartered Institute of Management UK and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
